Dana Perino, currently a TV commentator, recently gave a talk on the meaning of July 4th, Ms. Perino said:

“No matter how much we squabble, there are many, many more things that unite us than separate us.” The idea of a common goal can propel much positive energy. For those who divorce, and have children from their marriage, there exists a parallel situation. Divorcing individuals leave behind much of what united them. What they will not leave behind, if they divorce but have common children, is the experience of being a co-parent. No divorce will ever sever this relationship. Focusing on what unites rather than that which separates is always a good concept. Even in divorce, keeping in ming the onds that unite can mitigate some of the pain of divorce. This focus will always accrue to the benefit of your children.

I hope you had a joyous July 4th Holiday.
